Sorry, it has been awhile... I am almost home and cannot wait to get back to normal life. My husband is in Ok finishing up pilot training and the girls and I have been in Denver the past 2 weeks waiting for our home in Utah. We will finally be leaving my grandparents (it has been great here) and moving to our home in Layton where my husband will join me in a few months! I am so excited to set up my stamp room and post some new things from the new cat!! Hang in there with me, I will be back so so soon!! I miss you all

Spring Swap

This was my first attempt at the spring swap. I felt like making a "trendy" card and since black and white are really fashionable this spring this is where I went with it. However I was afraid the other participants would not agree, so I kept the design and changed the color scheme! The pictures are not great, but I used cool caribbean, Gable Green and Perfect Plum CS and Chalks! Then for an accent I uded some Stickles on the flower. I love this set, Doodle This, I really hope it makes it into the new catalog!! Enjoy!

Skyler stamped her first birthday card for her friend Claire. She used Pretty Princess stamps, Only Orange and Pink Passion CS with Green Galore ribbon and Diamond Dust! It really turned out cute. This is a great set for little girls!

Stickles. Stickles are a glitter and glue in one. Imbed baubles, other dimensional objects, or use alone as a glitter accent. I was recently asked by a customer, Shawna, what were the coordinating 30 Stickles colors compared to the 48 colors offered by Stampin' Up (SU).

Here are my suggestions. Keep in mind these colors merely coordinate with and are no where near exact matches.
Stickles - SU

Copper, Platinum, Silver, Golden Rod, Gold - No SU color available that is similar
Xmas Red - Real Red
Candy Cane - Ruby Red
Magenta - Pink Passion
Lavender - Lavender Lace
Purple - n/a
Orange Peel - Only Orange
Fruit Punch - Regal Rose
Pink - Pixie Pink
Dark Blue - Lovely Lilac
Starry Night - Lovely Lilac
Yellow - Yoyo Yellow
Eucalyptus - n/a
Patina - Handsome Hunter
Lime Green - Old Olive
Green - Glorious Green
Waterfall - Buckaroo Blue*
Turquoise - Tempting Turquoise
Aqua - Cool Caribbean*
Holly - Garden Green
Black Diamond - Basic Black

* these colors are only available through SU this year (2007).

The 'clear' Stickles - there are five (5). These all dry clear; however, the difference is in the hues of the glitter within.

Star Dust is clear with aurora borealis (rainbow) hues.
Diamond has only the gold/champagne sparkle from the AB spectrum.
Crystal has the yellow/green from the AB spectrum, Icicle is similar to StarDust except the size of the glitter is round and larger.
Frosted Lace has irridscent pearl glitter.

This card is for my Grandpa, "Papa" who after 45 years quit smoking!! He is doing great and we could not be more proud of him.

So my challenge with this card was to use "flowers" for a man. I thought the color choices created a western appeal with a touch of masculinity! What do you think? I love this set!

Doodle This Fun

This Spring Mini set is my favorite! I love this set, Doodle This! I cased the format from splitcoaststampers, it is 1 piece of cardstock cut in 2, then scored like normal cards then in half again in 3 of the sections. To hold it in place I put some ribbon through the entire card and tied to close. I Really Love this set!!

Valentines...

Happy Valentines day to all! My husband, so sweet went out on his own and bought me beautiful flowers, cooked me an amazing dinner and helped my clean on the 13th. It was our day to celebrate because he had a flight on the 14th. So for the 14th, I did the same for him. He cooked me chicken, and I cooked him steak! It was really nice! Steak dinner, grilled veggies and a wild rice pilaf with grilled french bread, yummm. Some days I really impress myself!
For desert, Skyler made a strawberry cake that we topped with FF cool whip and strawberries! So so good!

So here is the "Manly" card I have been struggling with. My DH does not really like flowers and that so I kept it sweet and simple by using chocolate chip and BBlue CS and so very stamps. It really turned out clean, simple and yet a little bit romantic!
Here I go again, dressing my girls up! Aren't they cute! There sweet cousin Denise bought them matching tops at GAP a couple weeks ago! I love baby gap clothes, I think they are really cute! Perfect for Valentines huh!

1 Layer Wonder Case

One Layer CASE! I finally got my brayer today! I have been wanting one for a while now, so I had to open it right up and make "something!" So this is what I did, literally it took me 2 minutes! I made a window with my tag punch out of scrap, rolled cool carribian on my brayer then onto the cs and then used stazon black ink for the rest! Simple, fast and neat! I am really excited to learn more on what to do with this guy.

I am looking for new things to do with this handy tool and would appreciate any comments or techniques with it you have. Thanks!

My Campers!

Thanks to all my February campers! It was a success! I hope you all learned a little more about stamping, enjoyed the projects and most of all had fun!

My door prize winner was Christy, she won a retired LOVE stamp set. This is her 2nd win in a row, so she wont be eligible for the next one :) he he! I try to not let anyone leave empty handed so, everyone took home a "grateful" 2,4,6,8 box (you can get the tutorial at www.splitcoaststampers.com) I had made and also some card stock and envelopes!

StampinUp! is way more than cards and through these camps I will try to show you how to incorporate the product into many different & fun things.

Skyler's 3 year old photos! I really love this page! SU! cs and TAC Alpha Hip stamps. I borrowed these from a friend and love them. I want them for my very own...

Well I have been hard at work scrapping Sidnee's baby album! I have her birth and first few days home done! She is 7 months... I think I am falling behind, so no more cards until I am through her first Christmas! Some of the pages still need the embelishing & stamping (as you can see, some pages are "lacking") and some need journaled too!

This is my favorite thing, my passion if you will, getting my hands on the paper and pictures!

I really love the SU! winter mini paper. It really is awesome for a girls album, I had to order 2 more packs before the deadline. I really love it!!

My Secret Project...

So I am always working on scrapbooks for my kids and things we do as a family, but never have I made one for my husband. So I decided to give it a go - a pilot training themed album - to remember our great year in Del Rio! As you can see, it is a flight suit that has been cut up and is covering a CM album. I have to say, it is challenging keeping it a secret. I have to casually ask him questions and try to get the accurate info without him questioning me! So here it is in the beginning- pictures have been ordered!

I will keep you posted on the progress.

I am thinking of keeping it simple and clean with black background pages. I have to still keep up with Sidnee's first year too!

Eating the "Rainbow"

As most of you know, I enjoy making my own baby food and eating healthy. Yes, I really enjoy the challenge of making healthy food taste good (though my husband my differ with that thought). I came across this site today and thought I would share it. I always tell Skyler to eat all of her colors-and try to offer her many colors throughout the day. Here is a site that makes this idea very simple!

What does "It starts with a Rainbow" mean?
We like to think that healthy eating is as simple as feeding your Toddler a Rainbow every day! Think of the colours of the rainbow and then think of the vegetables and fruits that match those colours! Granted, it will be very hard to feed your Toddler "blues" and "purples" every day however, the general idea of following the rainbow should be helpful.

Red - Apples, Cherries, Strawberries, Watermelon, Red Potatoes, Tomatoes
Orange - Oranges, Peaches, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots
Yellow - Bananas, Summer Squash, Wax Beans, Pears
Green - Avocado (yes, it's a fruit!), Green Beans, Zucchini, Mango, Papaya
Blue - Blueberries
Purple - Grapes, Eggplant

Now add some grains like bread, rice or cereals and some meats/proteins like chicken, tofu or lentils and you have a day full of wholesome, healthy and needed foods for fast growing Toddlers!

Name Frames

I made some name frames for Christmas gifts this year. I think they make a nice accent to a family portrait wall or in the entry way. I am working on ones for my girls, lots of pink, purple and fun foo foo stuff!

I love this set! It is my new one from the Winter Mini Catalog, Like a Latte. Honestly I love most of them in this mini (that is a problem!)

I can't wait to use it for some scrapbook pages...I think it would make some super cute snow pages, maybe a Christmas one and you could even do a camping page with this set. All soon to come!
